Laughter lives at Pillersee

Danny Bulthé has never seen a "grumpy" face at Pillersee . Apart from the unique natural landscape, this may be due to the fact that he offers nothing but fun with his company SUP’N’FUN : Stand-up paddling, marble golf courses, archery and much more make the eyes of adventurers, both young and old, light up.

Completely unsporty, lousy grades in gym class and self-confessed laziness - that was Danny Bulthé as a child. No, this story doesn't start with the Tyrolean children's classic "I was already skiing at the age of two". Growing up in Belgium in a classic prefabricated building on the outskirts of the city, he didn't see any great need to change anything. His connection to the Tyrolean mountains was purely the annual TV spectacle of the Hahnenkamm race. He feverishly awaited this event, but mentally this sporting world remained out of reach. Until the day he bought a BMX bike during a camping holiday in Germany. "I just thought those jumps and tricks were cool." This decision abruptly changed his life and its habits. It all started with the bike, but he soon switched to the board. Skateboard, snowboard, there was no type of board he didn't try out. He taught himself how to snowboard and in no time at all he was so good at it that he set off as an instructor for his first winter season in St. Johann in the Kitzbühel Alps.

From snow to the lake

A journey that took root. "After the second and third seasons, I met my now wife here and stayed." Forever, because with the best will in the world he can't imagine returning to his old home: "Not for any money in the world." When the happiness of family life set in with their first son, the time had come for Danny to rethink professionally and reorient himself. "Back then, I was often on the road as a cameraman with my snowboard for over 100 days a year, and I wanted to change that." The foundation stone was laid with his wife's birthday present - a stand-up paddle board. Offering stand up paddling on the emerald green Pillersee at the foot of the Kitzbüheler Alpen was a novelty: "No one had tried it before, I was the first with such a paddle on the lake and everyone asked me what I was doing in this area with a surfboard." But people were curious and came to try this new trend sport. The company „SUP’N’FUN“ was born - and with it many more ideas.

Marble course and Co.

With the self-built marble course, Danny built 18 lanes on different tables where luck, skill and concentration are required. The aim is, as in minigolf, to achieve the lowest score. For the adult generation, there is an opportunity to try one's hand at archery, while the youngsters are welcome to play "Robin Hood" on the children's course or try their hand on the soft arrow course for the first time. "Everyone decides for themselves what fun they want to indulge in here", because there are no limitations: Starting this year, there is also funball (water polo) directly on the lake, kayaks are available for rent as well as pedal boats, and those who want to take it easy can try SUP yoga.

Danny's goal is quickly explained: "I want to steer children away from tablets and smartphones and towards healthy exercise in nature, where, in the best case scenario, they don't even notice how much they are exercising because the focus is simply on 'fun'. If the kids are doing well, the parents are doing well." For Danny, his work at Pillersee is the best job in the world: "I love dealing with people. My programme conveys fun, people come here and laugh all the time. What more could you ask for?"
